About Newport Outrigger...
Newport Outrigger, led by Uncle Thomas Kalama, is Southern California's only canoe club rooted with Hawaiian culture and tradition. The club believes in Ohana (Family), which is the essence and the way we treat one another. Our club paddles to race, for recreation, and to have fun!

Schedule: Race Season (April - October)
Men's Team: Tue, Thu (5:30pm - 7:30pm); Sat (8:30am - 11:00am);
Women's Team: Mon, Thu (5:30pm - 7:30pm); Sat (8:30am - 11:00am);
Recreational Paddlers: Wed (5:30pm - 7:00pm); Sat (8:30am - 10:30am);
Schedule: Keikis/Children Age 10+ (May - September)
Wed (4:00pm - 5:30pm); Sat (8:30am - 11:00am)
Other practices are TBD as per coach availability.
Established in 1961
Newport Outrigger Canoe Club was founded by Noah Kalama. Uncle Thomas Kalama, son of Noah, continues to teach the Hawaiian tradition and customs to each and every paddler. Our focus on teamwork and tradition is what separates us from every other club in California.
